Yes, and it is becoming urgent to do so. In an email sent at the beginning of November to its French customers, Binance announced that all Binance France accounts will be closed on December 31, 2026. Deposits are now impossible, and only withdrawals remain open.
Above all, the platform will charge a fee from each account still funded: 0.025% of the balance or 10 USDC, whichever is greater. A first collection will take place within three days following November 29, then a second within three days following December 24. If your balance is less than the fees, Binance takes whatever is left. Only accounts emptied before November 29 are exempt from these fees.
After December 31, cryptos left in an account may be considered inactive. Binance then reserves the right to convert or transfer them. A conversion into euros would be a taxable sale, without you having chosen the moment.
Start with the platform or wallet that will receive your cryptos. In its deposit section, choose the crypto, copy the displayed address and note the network indicated, for example Bitcoin, Ethereum (ERC20) or Tron (TRC20). The withdrawal is then done in five steps in the Binance application.
For a large sum, test the address and network first with around twenty euros, then wait for them to arrive. You'll pay withdrawal fees twice, but you'll know everything is fair. Binance may also ask you who the funds are going to, as a European rule requires platforms to identify the sender and recipient of a transfer. Indicate that this is a sending to yourself, then give the name of the platform or wallet receiving the funds.
Finally, remember to completely empty your account. With a minimum fee of 10 USDC per draw, a few dollars of residual crypto left after November 29 would simply be absorbed by Binance. If a balance is too small to withdraw, first convert it with the “Convert” tool to a crypto you are already withdrawing.
The easiest way is to sell your cryptos on Binance, which still allows you to exchange them for euros with the “Convert” tool. She reminded this on September 25, 2026 in an email to her French customers. Open the “Trade” tab, then “Convert”. Choose the crypto to sell in “From” and the euro in “To”, click “Preview”, then confirm.
Method: reports are grouped by the words of their headline and summary; each newsroom counts once; figures are read from the reports as published. Nothing here is written by an AI.
To transfer these euros, open your wallet, click on “Withdrawal”, choose “EUR”, then “Bank transfer”. The transfer generally costs €1. Binance announces a maximum of 24 hours for an instant transfer and three working days for a traditional transfer. However, it only transfers euros to a bank account in your name from which you have already paid into the platform, while it has refused new deposits since July 1, 2026.
If you have never transferred euros to Binance, go through an approved platform. Send your cryptos there as explained above, then sell them for euros. Then request a transfer to your bank, which most platforms do not charge.
In both cases, the sale is imposed if your total sales for the year exceed €305. The capital gain is then taxed at 31.4% and is declared on form 2086. Transferring your cryptos or exchanging them for other cryptos, however, is not taxed. First of all, download your complete transaction history from your Binance space, as it gives the purchase prices necessary for the calculation. Do it before December 31: after closing your account, you will no longer have access to it.
A MiCA approved platform stores your cryptos and allows you to resell them for euros. Check that it is included in the register of approved platforms of ESMA, the European markets regulator. Also look in its help center which cryptos it accepts and on which networks, that is to say on which blockchains, because some refuse deposits from another platform.
To choose according to your profile (trader, long-term investor, need support in French), consult our selection of the best alternatives to Binance. To compare their fees, see our comparison of approved platforms for buying Bitcoin. Open your account now: Identity verification may take several days with the influx of former Binance customers.
USDT, a crypto that follows the price of the dollar, requires additional precaution. This stablecoin is in fact not MiCA compliant, so approved platforms can only sell it, convert it or return it to you until January 8, 2027 at the latest. Your USDT does not lose value however. Convert them to USDC, a dollar stablecoin authorized in Europe, on Binance with the “Convert” tool, or send them to an approved exchange that still accepts them to convert them there. Likewise, crypto that no approved exchange accepts can be converted to USDC on Binance before transfer.
A personal wallet allows you to keep the access codes to your cryptos, called “keys”. Your funds then no longer depend on any platform. It could be a free app or a small device like those from Ledger, which keeps these keys offline. In return, copy on paper the 12 or 24 word recovery phrase displayed during installation, because this alone allows you to find your funds if you lose your phone or the device.
Binance may ask you to redo your identity verification before a withdrawal, or suspend a network for maintenance. In this case, choose another network accepted by the destination platform, or try again later. If you have lost your two-factor authentication, for example by changing your phone, go through the “Security verification unavailable” link provided in this step. Don't delay: these procedures can take several days, and the fees drop from November 29.
You can no longer find cryptos that you had invested so that they would make a profit? Binance has closed these products in France. It has returned the flexible “Earn” products to your “Spot” wallet from July 1, 2026. Blocked products return there at the end of their blocking period, which can last 180 days. Staking cryptos, such as ether or solana, also return, sometimes after several days. Finally, the margin positions and loans were closed on October 1, 2026. Binance paid what remained into this same wallet.
As accounts close, scammers pose as Binance customer service, a recovery firm, or even a regulator. They contact you by phone, email, text message or social media. They then promise to “unfreeze” your funds or avoid closing your account for a fee, or ask for your codes and recovery phrase.
However, Binance never charges for unlocking a withdrawal, and its closing costs are taken directly from your balance, never claimed by transfer. She also wrote to her French customers that she would never call them, since she only communicates through her application and by email. To verify that a site, email address, or account belongs to Binance, use its “Binance Verify” tool. Finally enable the “anti-phishing code” in your profile, as it will then appear in every real email from Binance.
The AMF, for its part, reminds that it never contacts anyone to recover lost funds. If you have been trapped, call AMF Épargne Info Service on 01 53 45 62 00, then file a complaint at the police station or gendarmerie.
In principle no. Form 3916-bis only lists accounts opened abroad. However, according to Binance's general conditions for France, your account is held by Binance France SAS, a company established in Paris.
On the other hand, if the platform that receives your cryptos is established abroad, such as OKX in Malta or Kraken in Ireland, you must declare this account every year. This is the case even if it is empty or was closed during the year. This declaration is made with that of your income and costs nothing, but forgetting it is punishable by a fine of €750 per account, increased to €1,500 if their value exceeds €50,000. The address to be copied appears in our list of platform addresses.
A withdrawal can be blocked by an identity verification to be repeated, by a network suspended for maintenance or by cryptos still placed in a blocked “Earn” product. Withdrawals in euros are also only possible to a bank account from which you have already paid euros into Binance. Any offer to release your funds against payment is a scam.
No, not beyond 2026. Binance will close all French accounts on December 31, 2026. Cryptos that have not been withdrawn may then be considered inactive, then converted or transferred by the platform. It's also better to empty your account before November 29, the date from which Binance charges fees on remaining balances.
Binance will charge 0.025% of the balance or 10 USDC, whichever is greater, within three days after November 29, 2026, and again within three days after December 24. Fees are debited in USDC or, failing that, on other cryptos in the account. If the balance is less than the fees, Binance takes whatever is left. Accounts emptied before November 29 pay nothing.
Convert them to USDC, another stablecoin, or to euros on Binance with the “Convert” tool. You can also send them to an approved exchange that still accepts USDT deposits and then convert them there. Since October 8, 2026, these platforms can only sell them, convert them or return them to you, until January 8, 2027 at the latest.
