How the network agrees without trust.
Proof of Work (PoW), used by Bitcoin, requires miners to solve energy-intensive puzzles to validate blocks.
Proof of Stake (PoS), adopted by Ethereum, selects validators based on the tokens they lock up - far more energy-efficient.
In proof of stake, a validator signing two conflicting blocks is penalised (slashed) and ejected.
Security comes from capital at stake rather than electricity spent. A pro who delegates picks a reliable operator: slashing hits delegators too.
